Apple Cake

125g Butter

100g Sugar

3 Eggs

1 tbsp baking powder

250g plain flour

1½Kg apples

Lemon juice

1 tbsp Cinnamon

Apple Cake

Delicious and very moist apple cake.

Recipe:

Start with peeling the apples and cut them into slices. Sprinkle with lemon juice to stop them turning brown.

Pre-heat the oven to 200ºC.

To make the dough start with mixing the butter and the sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs and the baking powder and mix well. Add the flour bit by bit and mix into the dough. Now add the apple slices and combine the dough with the apples.

Grease a large round baking pan and pour the apple-dough mixture into the cake pan. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 50min.

Check with skewer if the cake has baked through. Stick it into the cake and leave for a few seconds. If it comes out clear the cake is baked through, if not it will need a few more minutes.

Once baked, take it out of the oven and sprinkle cinnamon over the cake. Leave to cool before serving.

Chefs Tip

Don’t worry if you think the amount of apples is far too much. The dough will combine with the apples and the cake will come out perfectly.
